About The Artist

Welcome to Mojave Creek! Mojave Creek was created in 2019. My name is Kris and I am the hands, heart, and mind behind this small business. I started beading daisy chains when I was a kid. And became a serious beader 13 years ago. I’ve had the privilege of continuing on this heirloom passed down by a couple of my uncles, who are Mohawk beaders. One of my uncles bought me my first loom and bead kit and I was hooked. I am an enrolled member of Mohawks of Kahnawake. I am a self taught silversmith beginning early in 2019. And began selling my metal work in the summer of 2020.

The jewelry I create are original designs and intentionally handcrafted. Handmade in the farthest Southwest of the states in the high desert mountains of Southern California. My work is inspired by the desert and the mountains and the flora and fauna seen through out the landscape of the Southwest. And by rustic ways of living throughout the West. Also, influenced by my families Indigenous Pueblo roots in New Mexico. By the geometric shapes I grew up seeing in my mamas, grandmas, and great grandmas Spanish and Pueblo styled homes. And the jewelry that they wore. This is where a lot of my style comes from. I am dedicated to using stones found here in the West. My goal is to make jewelry that authentically represents this beautiful place I’m so grateful to live in.

Besides making jewelry, I am a multi-passionate artist. I am a singer, I play the flute, and I am a harmonica player. Before my jewelry days I enjoyed playing music in two blues bands. I draw and paint. And love all things woven. I enjoy weaving pine needle baskets and wall hangings on the loom. And making macramé for my home. Creating with my hands is my passion and I never get bored of it!

My hope is to create art for you so you can express yourself with freeness. Treasures that you can cherish for a lifetime. Handcrafted with love from my hands to yours.🤲🏻
